Maxus has taken the covers off its new Maxus eTerron 9 4x4 electric pickup truck.
Successors to the 4x2 Maxus T90 EV pick up, the eTerron 9 gets a new Tetris battery pack with 102kWh capacity that has enabled Maxus to optimise the battery layout.Â
The eTerron 9 has more than doubled the thermal efficiency of the electric drivetrain and batteries, which has increased range by 10% to give the pickup a 430km range.
Power comes from two electric motors in the front and rear axles, which combine to deliver a peak output of 325kW.
Thats enough to see the Maxus eTerron 9 hit 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds.
Although the eTerron 9 will have a payload of just 620kgs, the 4x4 electric pick-up truck will have a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
Models will be available with both standard leaf spring suspension as well as multilink and air suspension which will allow the truck’s loading height to be lowered by up to 60mm with its Easy Load Mode.
Like most BEVs, the Maxus eTerron 9 will get a range of driving modes with its ATS (all terrain system) offering six driving modes covering mud, sand, rock and snow. There will also be the ability to set a bespoke custom mode.
On the inside there’s a central touchscreen, while the drivers seat is 8-way adjustable with massage function and the ability to recline to 180 degreeess with a 1.7m bed.
The eTerron 9 also features an electric front trunk which is 720mm wide with a 75kg load capacity and 236 litres of storage.
The rear gets an electric opening rear tailgate but the most innovative feature is a folding internal bulkhead to increase the load bed to 2.4m with a flat floor.
More than 3.5m km or testing has been conducted in countries from UK and Norway to Chile.
