Stellantis has announced a ten year deal to supply Iveco with medium and large vans.
Stellantis Pro One, the commercial vehicle division of Stellantis, will supply Iveco with two new all-electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
Based on Stellantis' medium electric van and large electric van platforms, the vans will range in size from 2.8 to 4.25 tons in gross vehicle weight.
Stellantis will manufacture the vans at its plants in Atessa (Italy), Gliwice (Poland) and Hordain (France). Iveco will then distribute and sell these vans across Europe, including the UK, through its existing sales and service network.
The new electric vans will expand Iveco's existing electric vehicle offerings, complementing the Iveco eDaily model and providing customers with a wider range of options. Iveco will also use the small electric van chassis from Hyundai to produce chassis cab vans with bespoke bodies - however, these are currently not due to be sold in the UK.
The new electric vans are expected to be available for sale by mid-2026.
Iveco's decision to partner with Stellantis was driven by Stellantis Pro One's expertise in electric vehicle technology, with a full range of electric vans, as well as hydrogen medium and large vans like the Vauxhall Movano Hydrogen.
Luca Sra, Truck Business Unit, Iveco Group president, said: โWe are excited to add two innovative and versatile battery electric vans to our light commercial vehicle line-up, boosting our competitiveness in the van segment. By choosing to partner with Stellantis Pro One, we are leveraging the extensive know-how and strong presence in Italy and Europe that historically tie our companies. I am confident that this winning collaboration will benefit our European customers, in particular for the success of their last-mile logistics businesses.โ
โWe are proud to collaborate with an Italian and world-leading company like Iveco,โ says Jean Philippe Imparato, chief operating officer of Stellantis for Enlarged Europe, โand this happened because we are European LCV market leaders thanks to our operational excellence, the quality of our products, and our ability to develop battery drive technology, which helps reduce polluting emissions and protect the environment.โ
Kia has announced a partnership to integrate Samsung's "SmartThings Pro" internet-of-things (IoT) platform into Kia's upcoming range of PBV vans.
The agreement, signed at Kiaโs EV Day event in Spain, aims to provide businesses with enhanced control over connected devices.
The collaboration will see Kia integrate Samsung's SmartThings Pro, allowing for wireless control of compatible devices through a "plug and play" system.
This means businesses could potentially manage IoT-enabled appliances without complex installations.
The companies envision that this technology will allow for automated connectivity between Kia PBV electric vans, like the Kia PV5, and business environments.
For instance, a small bakery owner could pre-program their vehicle to adjust its refrigeration system during ingredient pickups and then activate store preparation features like air conditioning and lighting upon their return.
Further applications include remote management of hospitality venues, allowing for tasks such as check-ins, check-outs, and climate control via the vehicle's infotainment system.
Samsung's SmartThings Pro will utilise AI to suggest and refine automated business routines, which can be monitored and controlled through the vehicle's system or a tablet.
The initial focus will be on pilot services for small businesses and self-employed individuals.
Kia and Samsung plan to develop specialised IoT solutions and bundled offerings for a wider range of business clients in the future, with the goal of expanding these services globally.
Also announced at Kia's EV Day was the continuation of the PBV range with the announcement of a new Kia PV9 large van model.
