VW showcases in-car gaming through the AirConsole app with an ID Buzz PAC-MAN makeover
A Volkswagen ID Buzz has been given a retro gaming makeover to celebrate PAC-MAN’s 45th birthday at MCM Comic Con London 2026.
Volkswagen has teamed up with Bandai Namco Entertainment and gaming platform developer N-Dream to showcase in-car gaming through the AirConsole app, which turns the ID. Buzz infotainment screen into a playable gaming platform while the vehicle is stationary.
Comic Con visitors can climb inside a specially wrapped PAC-MAN-themed ID. Buzz and play PAC-MAN Championship Edition using their smartphones as controllers.
Volkswagen said the feature is designed to help passengers pass the time during charging stops or while parked, with users connecting to the vehicle by scanning a QR code displayed on the infotainment screen.
The collaboration comes as new research commissioned by Volkswagen suggests retro gaming is enjoying a resurgence in the UK, with 45% of Brits considering buying a retro gaming device over the next year.
The ID. Buzz remains one of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ flagship electric models and is available in five-, six- and seven-seat layouts. The van’s retro-inspired styling makes it a natural fit for the PAC-MAN partnership, combining old-school gaming nostalgia with modern EV technology.
From summer 2026, the ID. Buzz will also receive Volkswagen’s new Innovision infotainment system, featuring an integrated app store that supports downloadable gaming, streaming and charging apps.

Away from retro gaming and Comic Con celebrations, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is also expanding the digital functionality available to its electric van customers.
More than 100,000 Volkswagen Group customers across Europe already use Ohme chargers, with the new integration giving drivers live battery charge updates directly through the Ohme app. The system is designed to automatically schedule charging during cheaper off-peak electricity periods, helping reduce running costs for electric van operators.
The functionality is available across Volkswagen passenger cars and commercial vehicles, as well as Audi, CUPRA, SEAT and Skoda EV models, through Volkswagen Group Info Services AG’s official API connection.
