You've come looking for the Citroen Relay van dimensions and in this guide you'll find out exactly how big the largest van in the Citroen range is.
As well as the height, length and width of the van's exterior sizes, you'll also get the Citroen Relay dimensions for the internal load space and its load volume. There will also be a break down of the various sizes for the wheelbase sizes for the Citroen Relay including its two most popular sizes, the Citroen Relay L2H2 dimensions and the Citroen Relay L3H2 dimensions.
If you need to know more about this large van then you can read the Citroen Relay review or there's a seperate guide to the Citroen Relay payload capacity and the Citroen Relay towing capacity.
The Citroen Relay has been on sale since the 80s but this is the guide to the dimensions of the van from the mid-2000s onwards. There have been numerous changes to the Relay of the years so these dimensions relate to the current model which at the time of writing is the fourth-generation facelift model introduced around 2014.
For anyone stumbling across this guide from overseas, where the Relay is known by a different name, this guide will also give you the Citroen Jumper dimensions for length, height and width.
As part of the Stellantis range of vans, the Relay is also a sibling to several other vans. That means the Citroen Relay shares the same size as the Fiat Ducato dimensions, Peugeot Boxer dimensions and Vauxhall Movano dimensions. It is also the same as the Toyota Proace Max dimensions, which is built by Stellantis for the Japanese manufacturer.
All of the above models are also available as electric vans, which have their own dimension guides.
So... let's break down the Citroen Relay size across the range. There are a total of three van lengths (medium, large and extra-large) and three roof heights (low, standard and high). This means that the Relay has a load volume of up to 17m3.
The overall height of the Citroen Relay is up to 2.76m. That's the height of the tallest Relay van and the measurement from the ground to the highest point on the roof.
The Relay interior height varies depending on the overall roof height of the van. It is available with as much as 2172mm of head height, easily enough to stand up in. The Citroen Relay internal dimensions for the height of the van range from 1662mm to 2172mm.
The overall length of the Citroen Relay is up to 6363mm or 6.36m. That's the external length of the largest L4 van. The Relay is available in three different lengths ranging from 5413mm to 6363mm.
The maximum internal length of a Citroen Relay van is 4070mm or 4.07m. The Relay is available with internal loadspace lengths of between 3210mm and 4070mm.
The Citroen Relay has an overall width of 2050mm. That's the width of the metal panels of the body at their widest part, and excluding the door mirrors.
The internal width of the Citroen Relay interior at its maximum is 1870mm.
The width between the wheelarches of the Citroen Relay van is 1422mm. That's enough for a Euro pallet in either orientation or having two side-by-side.
The medium-wheelbase Citroen Relay is the shortest size available in the range. Citroen refers to the Relay or Jumper MWB as an L2 variant van. Previously the range has referenced an L1 model but the this was no shorter than the current L2, instead the naming convention has changed for the dimensions.
The L2 Citroen Relay MWB length is 5413mm or 5.41m. That's the external length from bumper to bumper.
The medium wheelbase Relay van is also available in two roof heights, H1 and H2. The Citroen Relay's overall roof height ranges from 2254mm to 2522mm.
The Relay L2H1 is the smallest of all the Citroen Relay vans. It has a standard height roof and the medium-wheelbase length.

The interior dimensions of the L2H1 Relay van will allow you to carry lengths of more than 3m. The internal height, however, is not quite enough to stand up in. At just 1.66m most people will probably have to stoop a bit when standing in the loadspace. The width for all vans is the same with a maximum of 1.87m which narrows to just 1.42m at narrowest point between the wheels in the rear of the van.
3120mm L x 1870mm W x 1662mm H
The Relay L2H2 is based on the medium-wheelbase model but with a higher roof than the entry-level van. It has a maximum height of 2.52m which adds a considerable amount of storage.

A higher roof means a much more usable interior for the Relay. The L2H2 internal height increases to 1.93m enabling people to properly stand up when in the rear of the van. That means the H2 van is also suitable for a proper camper conversion van and more practical for courier or home delivery applications where you may have to regularly enter the inside of the van.
3120mm L x 1870mm W x 1932mm H
The longer wheelbase of the Citroen Relay LWB van or L3 size means that there's an additional 585mm added to the overall length of the van.
As a result the long-wheelbase model has a maximum bumper-to-bumper length of 5.99m. The LWB L3 Relay van is also available in two roof heights with a standard H2 height or the taller H3 option.
The middle van in the range, the Relay L3H2 dimensions make it a really versatile van for all manner of jobs. The larger overall length of up to 5.99m means that there's additional space in the rear. Its overall height of 2.52m means it's a full-size looking van and will be unable to get into any normal height restrictions found on car parks.

An extra 585mm over the L2 variants means that the L3 van gets more load length in its cargo space. Because all the of the additional length is created by increasing the wheelbase of the van, the Relay L3H2 internal dimensions increase by exactly the same amount of 585mm. An extra 0.58m increases the total cargo area length to more than 3.7m
3705mm L x 1870mm W x 1932mm H
The largest of the middle LWB vans, the Relay L3H3 is a high roof, long-wheelbase van with an overall length of nearly 6m and 2.7m height.
Because of its large internal proportions, but normal front and rear overhangs, it makes an ideal courier van. We'll explain more about the overhangs shortly. It's still a very big van but considerably easier to turn around in the street with than its extra-long sibling.

The internal dimensions of the Relay L3H3 allow you to move up to 3.7m in total length in the cargo space. The H3 height also gives you 2.17m of head height.
As with the smaller vans there's still a maximum 1.87mm across the widest part of the van.

Before getting into this next bit, let's start with a frequently asked question.
The difference between a Relay L3 and L4 is the overall size of the van which increases by 365mm. Both have the same wheelbase but the L4 has a much larger rear overhang.
ELWB is short for extra-long wheelbase but in reality there's no change in the actual wheelbase dimensions. Instead the L4 version gets its extra length from a giant rear overhang. The rear overhang is the portion behind the rear axle of the van and by adding more length to the overhang the Relay can have a much longer load length. The L4 dimensions increase by 365mm compared to the Relay L3.
There's a choice of two different roof heights on this super long van with both the H2 and H3 roof heights.
An extra 365mm for the Relay L4 van means the total length increases to 6.36m making it one of the longest vans on the market - comparable to other big vans like the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Iveco Daily.
6363mm L x 2050mm W x 2522mm H

Rear Door Height | 1790 |
Load Length | 4070 |
Load Width Max | 1870 |
Load Height | 1932 |
Load Volume | 15m3 |
On the inside, the longest of all the Relay models has capacity for lengths up to 4070mm. The additional space comes from a larger rear overhang which means the rear of the vehicle extends further than the rear axle. This can be an issue for turning in tight spaces where drivers run the risk of hitting objects due to the extended out swing.
The plus side is that there's an additional 365mm of cargo capacity in the load space.
4070mm L x 1870mm W x 1932mm H
The Citroen Relay L4H3 is the biggest van in the range. It has the largest roof height of all the vans and longest of all the models. Measuring in at more than 6.3m in length and with a height of 2.76m it's also one of the biggest vans in the sector.
6363mm L x 2050mm W x 2760mm H

With a 4m load length and height of more than 2.1m the Citroen Relay L4H3 dimensions give it the largest internal dimensions and load capacity of any 3.5-tonne van.
4070mm L x 1870mm W x 2172mm H
The Citroen Relay has a load volume ranging from 10m3 to 17m3 depending on the size of the van.
The largest van is an L4H3 model with a capacity for 17m3 cargo volume.
L4H2 and L3H3 vans both share a 15m3 cargo space load volume, while the slightly smaller Relay L3H2 van has a volume of 13m3.
At the smaller end of the Citroen Relay load volume are the L2 H2 versions with a 11.5m3 capacity. The low roof Relay, only available in L2 length, has a 10m3 load volume.
The Relay has a loading height of between 535mm and 565mm, depending on the size of the van and its payload.
