Nissan NV400 dimensions

The Nissan NV400 is the japanese manufucaturer's largest van and has such as the NV400 dimensions are amongst the biggest in the large van sector.

But, you've come here to find out something specific about the Nissan NV400 dimensions, so this guide will tell you all there is to know about not only an overview of the dimensions of the Nissan NV400 but also the NV400 height, width and length.

The NV400 van comes in a wide range of sizes with panel vans of varying heights and lengths. There's also a massive range of conversions, but we are going to focus on the panel van sizes.

We'll also cover the Nissan NV400 load volume and a whole other array of details relating to the NV400 van size.

One of the most commonly asked questions about the Nissan NV400 dimensions:

Is a Nissan NV400 bigger than a Ford Transit?

The Nissan NV400 is not bigger than the Ford Transit, although they are roughly the same size. The NV400 is actually slightly smaller than the Transit van when you look at comparing their total loadspace volumes.
As large vans, both have nearly identical loadspace lengths, widths and heights and when it comes to external dimensions, most Nissan NV400 vans are slightly longer, fractionally wider and slightly smaller in height than the Transit and other big vans.

Is the NV400 the same size as the Renault Master?

Yes, the Nissan NV400 and the Renault Master are the same size because they are a joint-venture shared product. Renault makes the van and it is rebadged as a Nissan. That means that the size of the NV400 and the Renault Master are physically identical.

Is the Nissan NV400 the same size as the Nissan Interstar?

No, although they are the same type of large vans. Although it would seem that they are the same, the NV400 and the Interstar are two seperate models launched at different times by Nissan.
The Interstar name was used for a long while then in the mid-2010s it was replaced by the NV400. The NV400 was then replaced by an entirely new platform which reverted back to the Interstar name.

If you want to know more on how the Nissan NV400 compares to the Ford van then read our Ford Transit dimensions guide to compare the sizes.

Alternatively you can read reviews on the Renault Master E-Tech (2018 - 2024) which is the van that corresponds with the NV400 for size. Or you can read the complete Renault Master dimensions guide.

How long is a Nissan NV400 in meters?

The Nissan NV400 has an overall length from 5m to 6.85m depending on the version you choose. It has a usable loadspace length of between 2.6m to 3.7m.

How much can you fit in a Nissan NV400?

The Nissan NV400 has an overall load volume of between 8m3 and 14.8m3 depending on the size of the van.

Nissan NV400 length

The Nissan NV400's long length, and therefore carrying capacity, is one of the many reasons why it has grown in popularity.

Although the length of the Nissan NV400 varies depending on the specific model and variant it has one of the best load length carrying capacities in the large van segment.

There are up to four lengths available as the Nissan NV400 comes in a variety of sizes with multiple wheelbase options, ranging from the compact short-wheelbase model long-wheelbase versions.

Nissan NV400 length ranges from 5,048mm to 6,848mm

Nissan NV400 width

Equally important as length is the width of the Nissan NV400 van, and it's wide body has been designed to accommodate up to two pallets width-ways in the rear.

Nissan NV400 width ranges from 2,070mm to 2,494mm (excluding mirrors).

Nissan NV400 height

The Nissan NV400 is available in three different roof heights of H1, H2 and H3. The tallest of roof size provides more than 2.1m of head room making it comfortably large enough for a walk-in, walk-out goods deliveries operator or even as a mobile home conversion.

Nissan NV400 height ranges from 2,307mm to 2,825mm.

Load volume

The combined of length, width, and height of the NV400 makes sure that it can provide some pretty large loadspace volumes.

The Nissan NV400 has an overall load volume that ranges from 8m3 to more than 14.8m3, depending on the specific van size.

Nissan NV400 front-wheel-drive van dimensions

The Nissan NV400 dimensions vary based on the size of the van with its length and height all variable. The larger rear-wheel-drive models come in either single or twin-wheel setups and have a longer wheelbases than the front-wheel-drive versions.

Next we will look at the dimensions of the Nissan NV400 as a front-wheel-drive (FWD) van, or scroll further for the rear-wheel-driver version.

There are three lengths, L1, L2 and L3 for the NV400, providing a range from 5075mm to 6225mm. Rather than simply increase the overhand to create more space, each length van is built on a different wheelbase length of either 3182mm, 3682mm and 4332mm.

However, the front and rear overhangs are the same for all vans, so there is a 869mm front overhang on all NV400 vans and a 1024mm rear overhang.

As well as three lengths there are also three heights for the FWD NV400 van where you can have either a H1, H2 and H3 version.

The overall heights vary slightly different between the front and rear wheel drive models, and there are also different options, as detailed below.

The height of the Nissan NV400 FWD H1 van is 2307mm as an L1, but that increases to 2500mm for the L1H2, 2499mm for the L2H2 and 2488mm for the L3H2. This is because of the additional weight of the larger van compressing the spring slightly and lowering the overall height of the van.

For the very tallest H3 variants there's an L2H3 van with a height of 2749mm and a L3H3 versoin with a 2744mm height.

The width of all FWD Nissan NV400 vans is 2470mm including the mirrors and 2070mm excluding mirrors.

The load area maximum length of the Nissan NV400 van ranges from 2583mm up to 3733m.

This is the maximum dimensions of the cargo area for the Nissan NV400, which has a cargo area width of 1765mm and a width between the wheelarches of 1380mm.

The Nissan NV400 has a maximum loading height, that's the distance from the ground to the floor level of the cargo area, of 546mm for the L1H1 down to 542mm for the L3H3 model.

Nissan NV400 rear-wheel-drive van dimensions

The rear-wheel-drive Nissan NV400 van dimensions are slightly different to those of the front-wheel-drive van.

Because the van has a longer footprint it is slightly heavier which alters the height of the van due to the additional mass on the springs.

There are two body lengths for the Nissan NV400 rear-wheel-drive (RWD) van with a L3 and L4 model. The NV400 L3 van has a length of 6225mm, while the bigger L4 van has a total length of 6875mm.

The L3 van has a total wheelbase length of 3682mm, and the L4 model has a 4332mm wheelbase.

Unsurprisingly, the lengths have the same front overhang are the same as on the FWD model which a 869mm protrusion, but the rear overhang of the RWD vans is increased to 1674mm.

The NV400 rear-wheel-drive van comes in a choice of two heights with an H2 or H3 option.

The L3H2 van has a height of 2549mm while the L4H2 is 2557mm high. The L3H3 has a 2815mm overall height and the L4H3 model is slightly shorter at 2808mm.

All rear-wheel-drive NV400 vans have an overal width of 2470 including the mirrors and 2070mm without the mirrors.

The interior length of the Nissan NV400 van sizes range from 4383mm to 5023mm, for the L3 and L4 respectively.

The overall width of the NV400 with either single or twin rear wheels is 1765mm on the inside of the cargo area. The width between the wheelarches of 1380mm for the single wheel model or a width between the wheelarches of 1080mm for the twin wheel RWD van.

So those are the dimensions of the Nissan NV400 large van. They're the same as the Renault Master, and about middle of the road for a large van.

The NNV400, though was replaced by the Nissan Interstar, which is a different platform. While the dimensions are slightly smaller in some areas, the Nissan Interstar manages to be more productive, so if you want a similar sized van that is still a Nissan with some slightly better dimensions then you need to check out the Nissan Interstar dimensions page.
