Isuzu has expanded its D-Max line-up with a new Commercial trim and conversion based on the 2.2-litre Double Cab pick-up which was introduced to circumvent the Benefit-in-Kind taxation on

The new commercial variant is based on the recently launched D-Max 2.2 Double Cab pick-up, and will be available across the DL20, DL40 and V-Cross specifications.

The new D-Max 2.2 Commercial has been developed to provide businesses with the practicality of a four-door pick-up while qualifying as a commercial vehicle for tax purposes, under the revamped BIK rules introduced last April.

The conversion enables the vehicle to benefit from flat-rate Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) taxation and 100% capital allowances, making it more attractive for business users, fleets and company car drivers.

Unlike traditional panel vans, the D-Max Commercial retains its Double Cab bodyshell and four-door layout, however, the rear passenger compartment has been converted into a dedicated load area.

The rear seats and seatbelts have been removed and replaced with a flat floor, while a solid bulkhead with a mesh viewing screen has been installed.

Additional protection is provided by a rear cab protection panel with a mesh section while the rear side windows are darkened. There's also a Commercial badge on the tailgate.

The new model joins the wider D-Max 2.2 range, which launched earlier this year and includes Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab body styles.

Under the bonnet there's Isuzu’s new 2.2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, producing 163PS and 400Nm of torque.

The powertrain is paired with a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system that allows drivers to switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62mph.

For more demanding conditions, the D-Max Commercial also benefits from low-range four-wheel drive, a rear differential lock and Rough Terrain Mode as standard across the range.

Payload remains a key selling point, with the commercial conversion maintaining a carrying capacity of more than one tonne. The vehicle also retains the same D-Max towing capacity of 3.5-tonne.

Alan Able, MD of Isuzu UK, said: “The new Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial further extends the D-Max pick-up range with both practical and financial benefits."

“The commercial variant joins the Single, Double and Extended Cab options launched earlier this year, and expands the pick-up’s appeal across broad commercial, utility and agricultural environments.”

The new Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial is priced from £34,745 CVOTR and is available to order immediately.
