Chinese manufacturer BONTU has entered the European market with the BTE03, a compact electric cargo vehicle designed for urban last-mile deliveries, offering up to 340kg payload and 100km range.
The BTE03 forms part of the company’s new European line-up of electric quadricycles, but it is the commercial vehicle that is likely to attract the greatest attention from fleet operators looking for a compact, zero-emission alternative for city centre work.
Homologated as an L7e heavy quadricycle under EU regulations, the BTE03 is available in cargo van, pick-up and chassis-cab style truck configurations, allowing it to be adapted for a range of applications including parcel delivery, refrigerated transport and specialist urban services.
At just 3,564mm long and 1,220mm wide, the BTE03 has been designed to navigate narrow city streets where conventional vans can struggle. The cargo version features twin rear doors and can also be specified with a side loading door to improve access when making frequent deliveries.

Payload is quoted at up to 340kg, while power comes from a 7.5kW electric motor producing 60Nm of torque. Top speed is 81km/h, making it suitable for urban roads and short inter-urban journeys.
Energy is supplied by an 8.35kWh battery, which BONTU says delivers between 80km and 100km of driving range depending on operating conditions. Charging to 80% takes around 90 minutes, with a full recharge completed in approximately three hours.
Despite its compact dimensions, the BTE03 comes with a relatively comprehensive equipment list. Standard features include ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, regenerative braking, electric power steering, cruise control, air conditioning and parking radar sensors.
The vehicle’s body and passenger safety cell are constructed using 95% high-strength steel, while the front suspension uses a MacPherson strut layout paired with an independent rear axle. According to the manufacturer, the BTE03 completed more than one million kilometres of durability testing in both hot and cold climates during development.

BONTU believes vehicles such as the BTE03 will become increasingly attractive as urban emissions regulations tighten. The company claims operating costs are around one-third of an equivalent diesel vehicle, while maintenance costs can be reduced by around 40%. In addition to zero tailpipe emissions, the electric drivetrain also enables quieter operation, making the vehicle suitable for early morning or overnight deliveries in noise-sensitive areas.
Founded in 2020 and based in Shandong Province, China, BONTU specialises in compact electric vehicles for urban mobility. The company has already secured European type approval for its range, allowing the BTE03 to be registered and sold across EU member states under the L7e quadricycle classification.
Every BONTU vehicle sold in Europe is backed by a three-year or 50,000km warranty.
