CPD invests £10m in stock conversions and electric vans

January 9, 2025

Commercial vehicle conversion company CPD Bodies has announced a £10m investment in its products and facilities.

The investment has been spread across different areas of the business with the bulk of the money going towards readily available stock.

CPD committed £6m for new single and double cab chassis stock to be converted according to customer requirements to tipper, dropside and Luton van bodies. The company will also offer panel van conversions for passenger transport, specialist shelving and racking.

CPD’s recent investment also included expanding its offering of electric vehicles, supporting operators in their switch to zero-emission vehicles. This also reflects a growing demand for electric vans.

Some of the funds will also go towards a new spray booth, costing £250,000, and £1 million has been earmarked for a new facility to increase production capacity.

Cathal Doocey, MD of CPD Bodies said: “This investment reflects our commitment to empowering UK businesses with innovative, reliable vehicle solutions. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, we’re proud to support businesses in future-proofing their fleets with sustainable, zero-emission options. Whether it’s a sole trader or a fleet manager, we’re here to deliver purpose-built conversions, ready for rapid delivery, to drive success and support a greener future.”

While CPD has increased its stock of vehicles ready to be converted, the company also caters to customers who supply their own chassis.

When a vehicle is in build, CPD has set up a production portal so customers can track progress and get updates on the status of their vehicle.

This investment comes off the back of a period of growth for CPD in 2024. The company was the third large business listed on the Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 list for 2024 and eighth overall.

The list ranks businesses in the North East based on average turnover growth and indicates the fastest growing companies in the region.
