Budget brand Dacia has launched the UK's cheapest small electric van with the introduction of the Dacia Spring Cargo.
Based on the new Dacia Spring electric car, the Spring Cargo is an N1 homologated version classifying it as a commercial vehicle.
Priced at £14,995 (excluding VAT) it becomes the cheapest electric van on sale after the DFSK EC35 which is no longer available. There's also monthly offers as low as £149 (excluding VAT) on Business Contract Hire. It also qualifies for the UK Plug in Van Grant of £2,500.
The Dacia van measures just 3.7m long, and as such has a minute turning circle of just 4.8m.
With the rear seats removed and a mesh bulkhead fitted - in order to meet the N1 homologation - the Spring Cargo payload is a surprising 370 kg. The Dacia Spring Cargo's dimensions also mean there's a very respectable 1085 litres of load space. accessed through a tailgate rear, or the side doors.
Power comes from a 26.8 kWh battery giving the Spring Cargo a range of up to 140 miles on the WLTP mixed cycle. Dacia says charging speeds will see the battery go from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes.
There's just one choice of motor, a 65bhp unit, and there's only be one paint colour, so if you like Polar White paint you are in luck.
Standard specification includes a 10-inch display with Media Nav Live and Smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth and a USB port.
There's also cruise control, manual air conditioning, electric front windows, remote central locking, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Unusually for a budget electric van, the Dacia Spring gets Bi-directional, vehicle to load (V2L) capability, enabling any 240V accessories to be powered.
