The Kia PV5 Passenger has exceeded its official driving range during one of Europe’s most respected independent electric vehicle tests, highlighting the model’s real-world efficiency credentials ahead of its wider market rollout.
Participating in the NAF El Prix Summer Test in Norway, the all-electric people carrier achieved 260 miles (420km) on a single charge, surpassing its official WLTP combined range figure of 256 miles (412km).
Organised by the Norwegian Automotive Federation (NAF) and automotive publication Motor, the El Prix programme is widely regarded as the world’s largest independent EV test. Vehicles are driven over the same route under identical conditions before undergoing standardised charging assessments, allowing direct comparisons between models.
The test vehicle was a Kia PV5 Passenger equipped with the larger 71.2kWh Long Range battery pack. Over the course of the test, the vehicle recorded average energy consumption of 4.5 miles/kWh (13.8kWh/100km), placing it among the top five performers in the family vehicle category for WLTP accuracy.

The test also evaluated charging performance. Built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S electric vehicle platform, the PV5 Passenger supports AC charging up to 11kW and DC rapid charging at speeds of up to 150kW.
During the assessment, the battery was charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, matching Kia’s official claim and demonstrating consistent charging performance under independent test conditions.
The result adds another positive milestone for Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range, which had previously set a world record for the greatest distance covered by a van with a full payload

Held twice annually in winter and summer, the NAF El Prix tests have become an important benchmark for electric vehicle buyers. Every participating vehicle follows the same route on the same day, with standardised conditions including a cabin temperature set at 20°C.

The strong showing from the PV5 Passenger will provide an additional boost for Kia as it expands its PBV line-up across Europe. The model recently gained a new seven-seat PV5 model and an expanded trim structure.
