Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has revealed the UK pricing and specifications for the new Transporter van, undercutting its key rival the Ford Transit Custom.
Prices will start from £30,995 for the diesel Volkswagen Transporter model, while the Volkswagen e-Transporter will begin from £41,965.
Buyers will get a choice of three trim levels, with Commerce, Commerce Plus and Commerce Pro options.
Mid-spec Commerce Plus will add an additional £1200 to the base price taking the cost to £32,195.
Top of the range Commerce Pro will see the price of the Transporter rise by a further £2200 over the Commerce Plus trim, to a total price of £34,395.
Electric models will only be available in Commerce Plus and Commerce Pro trim.
Commerce Plus version of the medium electric van start at £41,965 with a £2200 lift to the Commerce Pro option.
The latest version of the Transporter will be available in a range of body types with dual cab, people mover and double-cab chassis variants available alongside the panel vans. There are also two wheelbase lengths, standard or long.
Order books open in January 2025 with the option of three diesel and two electric powertrains. There will also be a plug-in hybrid drive (eHybrid) arriving in 2026.
UK customers will get Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ 5+ Promise Warranty and Service plan as standard.
This gives them five services, five years’ warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
The new Transporter is based on the Ford Transit Custom, which currently has a starting price of £32,350 for a Transit Custom SWB Leader 110hp.
The starting price for the Ford E-Transit Custom is £43,380 for a SWB Trend 100kW 65kWh model.
