Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is expanding the ID. Buzz Cargo range with a new long-wheelbase model, increasing load volume to 4.4m³ and bringing a useful boost in towing capacity.
The ID Buzz Cargo LWB extends the load floor by 250mm to 2,458mm, giving it an additional 0.5m³ of cargo space compared with the standard-wheelbase van.
There’s also 1,230mm between the wheelarches, while the longer van gets two sliding side doors as standard. The sliding door aperture is 190mm wider than before, allowing a Euro pallet to be loaded through the side.
Depending on the powertrain, maximum payload is up to 700kg for the rear-wheel-drive model and 606kg for the 4MOTION version.

One of the more significant upgrades for working users is an increased towing capacity. The long-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo can tow up to 1,800kg, braked, on both 8% and 12% gradients.
An 86kWh battery is fitted to LWB models, compared with 79kWh in the standard-wheelbase Cargo. The rear-wheel-drive version produces 210kW (286hp), while opting for 4MOTION all-wheel drive increases output to 250kW (340hp).
Buyers can choose between a conventional tailgate or optional rear barn doors, while two- and three-seat configurations are available.

The ID. Buzz Cargo LWB also introduces several new features that should make the electric van more useful as a working vehicle.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows equipment to draw electricity from the van’s high-voltage battery. Using Volkswagen’s PowerSocket adapter through the charging connection, tools and other electrical equipment can be powered or charged at up to 3kW continuously, with a peak output of 3.6kW.
Adapters will be available with either a conventional Schuko socket or a CEE 230V camping-style connection.
One-pedal driving is another addition, allowing the van to use regenerative braking to decelerate all the way to a standstill.
Volkswagen has also upgraded its optional Travel Assist system with traffic-light recognition. The system can recognise a red light and automatically bring the vehicle to a stop.
Inside, there’s an updated Innovision infotainment system and app store, with downloadable services covering areas including charging, parking, audio and video streaming. Volkswagen has also revised the multifunction steering wheel, bringing back redesigned physical buttons for key controls.

UK order books for the long-wheelbase Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo are due to open in early 2027, with the first vehicles expected to arrive in spring.
UK pricing has yet to be announced but German pre-sales have already begun with the 250kW 4MOTION version priced from €50,630 excluding VAT. The rear-wheel-drive model is priced from €48,490 excluding VAT. Knowing how the world works these days, I think you could probably just put a pound sign in front of those and you might be close.
For those German prices, the LWB model is an additional €2,340 excluding VAT over the equivalent standard-wheelbase ID Buzz Cargo.
