Volkswagen van sales drop as new models change

March 15, 2025

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced a 4.3% decrease in vehicle deliveries for 2024, with a total of 404,412 units sold, according to the company's latest financial figures.

This decline is largely attributed to the ongoing model changeover, particularly the transition to the new Volkswagen Transporter, which now joins the VW Multivan and Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo in the company's medium van line-up.

Despite the drop in deliveries, sales revenue remained relatively stable at €15.1bn, a slight decrease of 1.3% compared to the previous year. However, the operating result after restructuring fell by 14.9% to €743m, leading to an operating margin of 4.9%, down 0.8%.

In a company statement, VW acknowledged the challenges associated with the model transition, but remains optimistic about its future product portfolio with the introduction of the new Ford Tranist Custom based Transporter expected to boost sales in the coming months.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a "March Sales Event" offering a £1,000 discount on all models across its range.

The promotion runs until 31 March 2025 and applies to both commercial and lifestyle vehicles, and can be combined with existing offers.

This initiative provides an opportunity for customers to purchase a variety of vehicles like the Multivan and the new California, to work vans like the Volkswagen Crafter panel van.

VW is offering a Solutions PCP agreement on a California Ocean 150 PS 2.0 TDI starting from £539 per month, with a 6.9% APR and a £2,000 deposit contribution.

Multivan model offers start at £395 per month on a Solutions PCP agreement, also with a 6.9% APR and a £3,000 deposit contribution.

Businesses looking at the Crafter CR35M panel van Commerce Plus can can get the same finance terms but with a £5,000 deposit contribution, and when combined with the £1,000 March Sales Event discount, prices start from just £449 per month.
