Mercedes-Benz Vans UK has added a series of updates for its Citan small van range, bringing extra power, higher payloads and new technology options from October 2025 production.

The latest update to the Mercedes-Benz Citan includes complimentary payload upgrades across selected Citan versions.

The L1 BASE entry-level model gets the the biggest boost to its payload with a +201kg uplift, giving operators the ability to carry more at no extra cost.

As well as payload improvements, a new 112 engine option has also been added to the Citan line-up. The new engine delivers 116hp and 270Nm of torque and is paired to an automatic transmission, as standard, for better performance and reduced fuel consumption.

In order to improve driver comfort Mercedes Vans has also introduced a Special Edition Technology Pack, priced at £995 (excl. VAT), available on both diesel and electric PRO models. The pack includes sat-nav along with wireless smartphone charging through an NFC charging pad.

There’s also Active Parking Assist which can identify a suitably sized parking space, and then help the driver manoeuvre into it.

On top of the new features, there’s also a promotional discount available for customers of the Citan range with up to £1200 off diesel model variants and a massive £4200 off electric versions of the Mercedes-Benz eCitan.

The Citan will go off sale next year after Mercedes confirmed that it would no longer continue its relationship with Renault. Renault has been building the Citan and eCitan on behalf of the German manufacturer, with a relationship that has spanned more than a decade.

Based on the Renault Kangoo and Renault Kangoo E-Tech, the Citan and eCitan are unlikely to be transferred to the upcoming Mercedes VAN.EA and VAN.CA platforms which will be the basis for the next Mercedes Vito, eVito, Sprinter and eSprinter models.
