Mercedes-Benz eCitan dimensions

So, you want to know the Mercedes-Benz eCitan dimensions, well you've struck gold my friend, because this is the best place to find out everything there is to know about the eCitan size.

If you're after the eCitan’s height, the eCitan's width or the eCitan's length we know it. If you want eCitan internal dimensions or the eCitan's load space size we've got that too.

Our Mercedes eCitan size guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Merc's compact city van dimensions.

Mercedes-Benz eCitan dimensions overview

The Mercedes eCitan shares its platform with the Renault Kangoo E-Tech, and also has the same dimensions as the diesel van. That means the electric Citan is the same as the Mercedes-Benz Citan dimensions for the diesel engine and the same as the Renault Kangoo dimensions.

Unlike the diesel van which has had two generations of van the eCitan is a brand new model and this version is the only one - which makes things a lot easier.

We'll look at the various sizes available in the range, as well as the length, width, height, wheelbase and the all important internal dimensions of the eCitan which are vital for knowing how much load the eCitan can carry. We'll also cover the eCitan's load volume and probably a few other bits along the way as well.

The eCitan is available as a panel van or a crew van, but if you're looking for information on the proper passenger model you need to read our Mercedes-Benz EQT review.

Let's take a quick look at the Mercedes-Benz eCitan van dimensions. The eCitan is available in two body lengths up to 4.9m in length. It has just one roof height making it 1.8m tall, and all models are 1.85m wide.

Mercedes-Benz eCitan height

The Mercedes-Benz eCitan height is 1830mm and because there is no high roof H2 option for the eCitan, that 1.8m height is the only height you need to worry about.

That's good to know as most car parks in the UK have a 2m height restriction, so an eCitan should easily fit into an underground car park. However, be careful if the warning is for 1.8m as the eCitan will not fit.

Other important heights to know about the eCitan are the rear loadspace loading height, which is 589mm - this is the measurement from the ground to the lip of the loadspace, in other words the height you have to lift items to in order to get them in the back.

The Mercedes-Benz eCitan’s ground clearance is 193mm.

Mercedes eCitan internal loadspace height

The important question about size of the loadspace is how high is the internal measurement for the eCitan. Well, the Mercedes-Benz eCitan’s internal loadspace, and therefore the cargo area maximum height, is 1256mm.

That’s the floor to ceiling measurement for all eCitan vans and it is largely this height all the way across the length of the van. There is a slight curve to the roof, so the edges are fractionally less than the 1256mm maximum, but it's not a great deal different.

Mercedes-Benz eCitan width

The Mercedez-Benz eCitan width is 1859mm. This is the measurement at its widest point and includes the van's mirrors it’s 2159mm. All vans are the same width, so you only need know these two measurements for the eCitan width.

Mercedes eCitan internal loadspace width

The internal width of the Mercedes-Benz eCitan’s cargo area is 1524mm at its widest point.

That's the maximum width of the cargo space which comes at the point between the one/two sliding door(s) in the van.

If you need to put something at floor level, then the usable space between the wheelarches is slightly less as the maximum width between the eCitan's wheelarches is 1248mm.

Mercedes-Benz eCitan length

The only measurements that change are to do with the length of the van. That's because there are two sizes to the Mercedes-Benz eCitan van.

Merc sells the eCitan with either a standard length model or as the long wheelbase (LWB) version.

The standard L1 eCitan van has a total length of 4,498mm which for some context is around the size of a mid-size SUV.

The L1 model is built on a wheelbase measuring 2716mm whereas the eCitan L2 or LWB van uses a larger 3100mm wheelbase.

The L2 eCitan is therefore longer at a total length of 4922mm.

If you need to know the overhangs for the van then the eCitan has a rear overhang of 810mm, while the eCitan’s front overhang is 972mm.

How long is the Mercedes eCitan?

The Mercedes-Benz eCitan L1 is just under 4.5m long with a useable maximum loadspace / cargo length of just over 1.8m.
The L2 long-wheelbase model is 4.9m in length with a useable cargo length of 2.1m front to back.

Mercedes eCitan internal loadspace length

The Mercedes eCitan has a loadspace of length of up to 1806mm for the L1 model, which is big for a compact van.

The long-wheelbase model or L2 eCitan gets an increase of more than 300mm bringing the total length to 2170mm.

Mercedes eCitan load volume

Given it's tall and wide dimensions, the eCitan's load volume is pretty good for a small van. Other vans can move longer items, but the combination works well in the eCitan giving it a respectable load volume.

The L1 eCitan van has a load volume of 3.3m3, while the longer L2 long-wheelbase van has a load volume capacity of 4.2m3.
