The Isuzu D-Max Steel Edition has been crowned Pick-Up Towcar Winner at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year 2026 Awards.
Competing against major rivals in the pick-up segment, the Isuzu D-Max impressed judges with its strength, stability and all-round capability, earning praise for delivering a “safe and dependable” towing experience.
The win marks the D-Max’s second major towing accolade this year, following its victory in Parkers’ Best Pickups for Towing test.
Held at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, the Isuzu D-Max Steel Edition is a limited edition of just 300 units. It's finished in exclusive Steel Grey Mica paint and gets electric folding mirrors, puddle lamps, wheel arch extensions, and distinctive Steel Edition branding inside and out.
The test vehicle was equipped with a factory-fitted tow bar, electric roller shutter, sports bars, and a roof-mounted light bar, showcasing the model’s towing versatility.
With a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, 1-tonne payload, and selectable 4WD system, the D-Max blends heavy-duty performance with everyday comfort. Its Trailer Sway Control, torquey 1.9-litre diesel engine, and excellent visibility all contributed to its class-leading performance in this year’s tests.
Alan Able, MD at Isuzu UK, said the award reinforces the D-Max’s position as the leading choice for serious towing.
“We’re absolutely delighted that the Isuzu D-Max has been recognised by the Caravan and Motorhome Club as the Pick-Up Towcar Winner for 2026. Towing is at the heart of what our customers need from a pick-up, and this award reinforces the D-Max’s reputation as the most capable and reliable vehicle in its class,” Able said.
The overall winner of the Towcar Awards was the Volkswagen Passat which took the overall Towcar of the Year title, 2026.
But it was Isuzu’s year in the pick-up category where the D-Max once again proving why it remains the go-to choice for towing.
