Kia releases official pictures of new PV5 van

February 19, 2025

The first pictures of the new Kia PV5 have been released by the Korean manufacturer with both passenger and panel van variants.

The Kia PV5 Passenger and Kia PV5 Cargo models, the are brand’s first global commercial vehicles. A concept range of PBVs (Purpose Beyond Vehicles - the Kia name for vans) was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2024, now twelve months on, the finished product is now making its debut, ahead of a full reveal later next week where additional chassis and converted versions will be unveiled.

Both the Kia PV5 Cargo and the PV5 Passenger share the same design but there are a few key differences. The PV5 Cargo gets twin side-opening tailgate doors for better access to the cargo area.

The Passenger model gets some nice detailing, inlcuding retaining the van's appearance of the side door rails in the shape of the last windows.

Both models get slightly reccessed looking, chunky door handles and there's squared off plastic trim around the wheel arches and additional trim running the length of the van.

The concept's modern looking headlight design is retained and the fog lights are positioned high in the grille, in a well protected position.

A large LED panel was a dominant design element of the concept, but the production version retains that appearance with a large "mouth" for the lower part of the grille. Kia says the corners of the front bumper are easily interchangeable, improving its ability to be repaired.

“While the PV5 is offered in three different body styles to provide innovative solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, they all embody the same consistent design values inspired by Kia’s design philosophy, Opposites United,” said Karim Habib, head of Kia Global Design. “Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”

The PV5 Passenger get a large amount of window area, which has been made possible by the low beltline. This also gives the rear section of the van a large surface area suitable for a business' livery.

The windows are framed by black graphic glass surrounds to contrast with the PV5’s body colour.

The rear design is said to highlight the PBV’s "robust, modern character and projects a functional, logical nature", while the "chamfered D-pillar line extends to the rear, enhancing the vehicle’s sense of volume".

Further details of the Kia PV5 Cargo and the Kia PV5 Passenger models will be revealed at Kia's EV Day in Spain next week.
