Maxus has recorded its strongest-ever September, gaining a place in the UK’s top 10 commercial vehicle manufacturers.
Sales in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market have fallen 16.8% this year but Maxus has put in its best ever performance with an increase in registrations of 7.5% year-to-date. The lift in sales puts them 24.3% ahead of the same period in 2024 for both diesel and electric van sales.
The brand’s electric van range continues to gain traction, with almost one in five electric vans registered in September coming from Maxus.
That performance equates to an 18.4% market share in the EV segment and secures second place in the UK’s electric van rankings ahead of competitors like Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Vauxhall.
Year-on-year, Harris Maxus UK (the importer of Maxus vans) registered over 700 more electric vehicles than in September 2024.
Brian Patterson, MD of the Harris Group, said: "This isn’t just about sales numbers. It’s about the network, the people, and the Maxus experience behind every vehicle we deliver.”
The brand also delivered a standout performance in the diesel van segment, where sales rose 85% year-on-year in September, despite an overall market decline of 7.8%.
While several manufacturers in the top 10 lost ground, Maxus increased its diesel market share by nearly 3%.
Maxus has recently added several new models to its portfolio including the Maxus eTerron 9 and the Maxus T60 pick-up trucks.
“Our growth in the UK is a testament to the hard work, determination and vision of the entire Harris Maxus UK team,” Patterson added.
“We’re investing heavily in expanding and strengthening our dealer network to ensure customers have easier access to Maxus vehicles everywhere.
“We’ve also enhanced our aftersales portfolio, investing in infrastructure, training and customer support, setting new standards for reliability and response times. Our commitment to operators doesn’t stop when the keys are handed over — it continues throughout the vehicle’s life.”
Patterson said the company’s focus remains firmly on sustainable growth and customer support as it heads into the final quarter of 2025.
“Our priority is to continue strengthening our network and supporting our customers,” he said. “I would like to thank Bill Laidlaw and the team, our dealer partners, and our colleagues at SAIC Maxus in Shanghai for their unwavering support and commitment.”
