Renault Master wins International Van of the Year 2025 award

September 16, 2024

The Renault Master range has been named the winner of the International Van of the Year 2025, beating four others to the title.

The Renault Master range, which includes the Renault Master E-Tech electric van, was awarded with the title at the IAA Transportation Hannover trade show, and succeeds last year’s winner the Ford Transit Custom

The new Master range has been completely redesigned from the ground up to make way for multiple energy drivetrains with diesel, BEV and hydrogen powertrains.

After a year of many new vehicle launches, the Master triumphed over more than a dozen new vehicles including joint second placed large electric vans from Stellantis and the electric Ford E-Transit Custom.

The IVOTY jury were said to be impressed with the completely new design and high levels of innovation and technology developed for the new Master van. Its advanced aerodynamics, increased usability and enhanced efficiency, space, safety and comfort helped it secure the prize.

The multi-energy platform which includes diesel, electric and hydrogen powertrains also helped elevate it above the competition, meeting all of the criteria for the award.

Also making the shortlist, finishing in fourth and fifth place respectively, were the Ford Transit Courier and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. Receiving the award from IVOTY chairman Jarlath Sweeney (pictured below left) was Renault Light Commercial Vehicles CEO Heinz-Jürgen Löw (main image, and below right).

The latest generation Renault Master is the fifth van from the French manufacturer to win the awards. Most recently the Renault Kangoo was named IVOTY winner in 2022, but the Renault Master II (IVOTY 1998), Renault Trafic II (IVOTY 2002) and Kangoo ZE (IVOTY 2012) have all previously won the award.

Heinz-Jürgen Löw, head of LCV Renault Group said: “Receiving this award for our new Master is truly special and means a lot for us. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that went into making this possible.”
