Rushlift, a prominent nationwide supplier of materials handling equipment, has significantly enhanced its field service capabilities with the acquisition of 55 new Volkswagen Crafter vans.
The investment marks the first phase of a major vehicle replacement programme designed to support the company’s growing UK customer base.
The newly delivered Volkswagen Crafter vans will be operated by Rushlift’s Field Service Engineers, providing them with mobile workshops to deliver on-site support and maintenance across the country.
To ensure engineers are fully equipped for any task, each vehicle has undergone a bespoke conversion. The rear of each Crafter is now outfitted with custom racking, a powerful 350-watt inverter, and a dedicated workbench.
The Volkswagen Crafter was selected for its generous capacity and practicality. The impressive Volkswagen Crafter dimensions make it the largest model in the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles range, offering up to 18.4m3 of load space and an accessible load height of up to 2,196mm.
Furthermore, the maximum Volkswagen Crafter payload of 2.4 tonnes ensures that engineers can carry all necessary parts and equipment, making it the ideal mobile workshop.
Recent upgrades to the Crafter model are set to improve the daily work life for Rushlift’s engineers. The vehicles feature a redesigned dashboard with a new 10.4-inch display and advanced driver-assist systems for enhanced safety. An integrated eSIM also provides access to Volkswagen’s ‘We Connect’ mobile online services, keeping the fleet connected.
Alina Sirghi, fleet controller at Rushlift, commented on the strategic investment. “We’re proud to invest in the first phase of our service vehicle replacement programme, with 55 new Volkswagen vans now on the road for our Field Service Engineers,” she said.
“This marks an important step in supporting our growing customer base across the UK. These vehicles not only enhance the reliability and efficiency of our service operations, but also reflect our commitment to equipping our engineers with the best possible tools for the job.”
Sirghi added, “Partnering with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles ensures we maintain a fleet that meets our high standards for safety, performance and sustainability. This investment reinforces Rushlift’s dedication to delivering industry-leading service and remaining at the forefront of material handling support.”
The partnership was welcomed by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Craig Cavanagh, national fleet manager, said: “That Rushlift selected the Volkswagen Crafter to grow their fleet is a testament to our commitment to providing the best work tools for our trade customers. The Crafter’s comfort, upgraded dashboard and driver assist systems make it a reliable, safe and versatile vehicle for Rushlift’s drivers.”
