Volvo Car UK has launched a brand new electric van, the Volvo EX30 Cargo, a fully electric car-derived van aimed at fleets and businesses but with a bonkers 428hp.
It's based on the EX30 compact SUV and has been converted by Volvo Car UK as a second-stage process seperate to the car's build. The rear seats have been removed to create a flat load floor, while an additional access panel opens into a lower storage area to maximise cargo space.

But Volvo has kept the powertrain options, so that means you can get the EX30 Cargo with a new P3 Extended Range unit arriving for MY27, producing 150hp, the existing P5 powertrain with 272hp, or a range-topping P8 all-wheel drive variant with 428hp!
Despite all that power, it's still a van though. So, the EX30 Cargo gets a payload of up to 390kg, and there's a surprising 1m3 of load volume in the rear once the rear seats are removed.
Naturally, and following the legal requirements for a N1 conversion, it gets a full bulkhead, which separates the cabin from the cargo area, while reworked rear side panels help to increase the usable load space.
Wider-opening rear doors are designed to improve loading access, supported by an integrated load area work light. An underfloor subframe also introduces additional mounting and securing points.

Volvo also says it will have a range of up to 300 miles, depending on the version.
The EX30 Cargo is offered in both standard and Cross Country variants, with the latter adding increased ground clearance for a bit of casual EV off-roading. The conversion is available on both newly ordered and existing vehicles, which means Model Year 2026 and Model Year 2027 vehicles can all now come as a funky little van.
EX30 trim levels include Core and Plus, alongside a Cross Country Plus specification.
Standard equipment on the Volvo EX30 Cargo Core includes adaptive cruise control, Google Automotive Services and a rear parking camera with park assist. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included, along with an 11kW onboard charger and heat pump. Core models also get 18-inch Aero alloy wheels, all of which means it might make it just about be the poshest spec entry-level 'van' on the market. We're not even sure many top-spec van trims could beat that, either.
Plus models add Pilot Assist driver support and Digital Key Plus functionality, while additional kit includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a Harman Kardon sound system.
There's also two-zone climate control and wireless phone charging fitted and exterior changes include a dual-tone roof and 19-inch Aero alloy wheels.
Not ones to shy away from its massive rep, Volvo also says the EX30 Cargo meets its standard safety requirements and has undergone additional testing following conversion to ensure all systems perform as intended.

The last Volvo van we've seen from Volvo Cars came in the shape of a third party conversion of the XC90. However, Volvo parent company Geely is now selling their Farizon SV van in the UK.
The Volvo EX30 Cargo is on sale now, priced from £36,010 for the P5 standard range version.
The downside... it's available exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.
The Volvo EX30 Cargo joins a growing list of car-derived van conversions. The Renault 4 Cargo is expected to make its debut next month, and there's also now a new Explorer Van joining the Ford range.
A Renault Twingo Cargo was also spotted in Ibiza last week, and we've had conversions of the Citroen e-C3 and even the KGM Rexton Commercial.
