KGM Motors UK has unveiled a limited-edition version of the Musso pick-up truck.
The KGM Musso Saracen Platinum commemorates its 70th anniversary, and only 70 units of this pimped-out pick-up will be available in the UK market.
Designed to cater to pick-up enthusiasts, the Platinum model is based on the standard Musso Saracen, and keeps its one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity. However, it adds a touch of luxury and exclusivity with a range of premium features and a distinctive design.
The Platinum edition Musso, not to be confused with the Ford Ranger Platinum, gets a striking new look with matt black sports bars, extended wheel arches, and matt black sidesteps.
On the inside, there's Nappa leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 12.3-inch smart audio screen.
Under the bonnet power comes from the standard 2.2-litre diesel engine which delivers 200hp and 441Nm of torque.
Safety features include six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems including Brake Assist and Blind Spot Detection.
It comes in either Marble Gray or Grand White colours and the special edition also gets Saracen Platinum decals, a numbered interior badge, and a commemorative keyring indicating which of the 70 units is yours.
Musso Platinum’s accessories include:
The KGM Musso Saracen Platinum is priced at £33,995 (ex VAT) and comes with a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty.
SsangYong is revealed its newly revised SsangYong Musso pickup range with a revised look ahead of a more extensive technical upgrade due next spring.
Unusually, the Musso range consists of two wheelbases, giving overall lengths of 5,095mm and 5,495mm, both having four-door crewcabs. The extra 400mm length is used to create two load bed lengths. The longer option is 1,610mm, while the shorter one can still accommodate a Euro pallet.
Four trim levels are available, EX, Rebel, Saracen and Rhino. Even the EX version is well equipped, with features including DAB Bluetooth radio with steering wheel controls and manual air conditioning. Higher trim levels add 9.2in infotainment and navigation units, Apple Car Play and automatic dual-zone climate control.
Technically, the SsangYong Musso is powered by a 180hp/420Nm 2,157cc Euro-6 diesel engine, with the choice of manual or automatic six-speed transmissions. The transmission includes switchable four-wheel-drive and a two-speed transfer box. Both lengths have double wishbone front suspension, the short version riding on five-link independent rear suspension, with a conventional leaf spring rear axle on the longer model. The Musso has the ability to tow 3,500kg and carry a 1,000kg load simultaneously.
A high level of safety equipment is available, including rear cross-traffic alert on the top-of-the-range Rhino. All models benefit from a seven-year, 150,000 mile warranty.
SsangYong is taking advantage of the gap in the market left by the withdrawal of Mitsubishi from the UK leaving only the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux. Not only is it targeting the sales opportunities presented, but is also recruiting former Mitsubishi dealers. It has already signed up 10 and has another 10 in the pipeline. These will extend SsangYong’s UK dealer network from 70 to 90, giving greatly improved coverage across most of the the UK.
