VW finally makes an ID Buzz camper van

Volkswagen ID Buzz camper good night package
June 24, 2026

Volkswagen has unveiled a new Good-Night package for the ID Buzz, transforming its electric passenger van into a compact camper.

OK, so it's not the full ID Buzz California you were probably hoping for but it has been designed for occasional campers and weekend adventurers.

The new accessory package combines a dedicated sleeping setup with software upgrades and power management features intended to make the ID Buzz a more practical leisure vehicle. The package includes a bed frame, a custom-made folding mattress measuring 2m by 1.2m, blackout window coverings and ventilation grilles for the front side windows.

Volkswagen has also included a folding table and two chairs, allowing owners to create a complete camping setup directly from the vehicle. It's pretty much a proper camper then, just without the trademark California pop-top roof.

One of the main features of the package is a newly introduced “Overnight” mode, which has been made available through the latest generation of the vehicle's software.

Overnight mode allows the ID. Buzz to maintain a constant interior temperature for up to 48 hours while parked, helping occupants remain comfortable regardless of outside weather conditions.

To maximise efficiency, the system automatically reduces unnecessary lighting and vehicle functions while maintaining climate control. The result is a quieter and more energy-efficient sleeping setup designed specifically for overnight use.

VW has also introduced a new vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, turning the ID. Buzz into a mobile power bank. With a compatible adapter, users can access a 230V-electricity supply delivering up to 2,000 watts of continuous power.

The system allows campers to operate a wide range of household appliances and outdoor equipment directly from the vehicle’s battery. That should give you enough juice to power cool boxes, coffee machines and e-bike chargers, although the output should also support a variety of other camping and leisure accessories. Just don't try to boil a kettle while you're using a hair dryer.

Volkswagen will offer the package on its passenger versions of the ID. Buzz across both wheelbase options and all seating configurations.

The Good-Night package is available to order now in Europe and is priced from €2,600.
