The Ford E-Transit is the large electric van from Ford that comes in a wide range of heights and lengths. You probably want to find out either how high is my Ford E-Transit or what length is my E-Transit. Well, you've come to the right place. In this guide to the Ford E-Transit dimensions you'll find out both these things and much, much more.
So lets get down to the task of finding out about the all important Ford E-Transit measurements. Chances are you're thinknig that this big electric van won't quite fit under that height restriction. Or perhaps you're moving home and you need to know if that massive kitchen sideboard will fit inside the E-Transit's rear cargo area. Follow the easy to navigate headings to find out the sizes in each section with the Ford E-Transit's overall dimensions as well as the size of the loadspace.

One of the most commonly asked question we get is:
The Ford E-Transit has a heigt of between 2.45m and 2.78m depending on which roof height you have. It also comes in a choice of three lengths ranging from 5.53m to 6.7m. The width is 2.47m for all versions of the van.
The basics are that the E-Transit van is available in three lengths, medium-, long- and extra-long. Ford refers to these as L2, L3 and L4 size vans. If you're wondering why the shortwheelbase L1 model is missing, that because the smaller size is only available on the Ford E-Transit Custom dimensions.
There are also two heights – standard and high roof – which you'll find are called H2 and H3 in the Ford E-Transit brochure.
The Ford E-Transit is also based on the Ford Transit diesel model in rear-wheel-drive. However, the diesel Ford Transit dimensions are a little bit different in a few areas, so while they're essentially the same van, this guide to the Ford E-Transit dimensions is more accurate. If you need to know the Ford E-Transit payload there is a seperate guide.
The Ford E-Transit has a load volume ranging from 9.5m3for the smallest size van up to 15.1m3 for the largest van.
The sill loading height is just over 60cm or 608mm in the lowest and 692mm in the highest – these are slightly lower than the diesel van version because the overall weight of the battery across the length of the vehicle helps to weight it down slightly and lower that first step height.
The Ford E-Transit has an overall height of 2447mm for the H2 van which increases to a maximum of 2778mm for the H3 vans. Again these numbers are slightly lower by just a few mm compared to the diesel van, due to the additional mass of the van.
Regular height vans should therefore be able to fit beneath a 2.5m height restriction.
Always remember to check the size of the wheels, though, as that can make a difference to the ride height and therefore the overal height of the van. If you’ve change the wheels or upgraded the tyres you may have altered the height of your E-Transit.
The Ford E-Transit loadspace height is the space within the cargo area of the van that is usable for the transportation of items. The E-Transit loadspace height is 1786mm for the H2 van and 2025mm for the H3 van. This is smaller than the heights for the diesel van and matches the heights for the rear-wheel-drive models which are 100mm less. That's because the E-Transit is also rear-wheel-drive.
Knowing the width of a van is really important because sometimes there will be width restricted roads. Fortunately, the Ford E-Transit width is narrow enough to get through most of these with a 2059mm overall width. It measure 2474mm from the very tips of the mirror to each mirror - this is its widest possible measurement. If you fold the mirrors back the Ford E-Transit measures 2112mm.
The maximum loadspace width of the Ford E-Transit van is 1784mm, and is the same for all types of Transit van. The maximum width betwen the wheelarches in the E-Transit is 1392mm.
Ford E-Transit is a very large van with a range of lengths from 5531mm for the L2 vans, with L3 vans being 5981mm and the L4 van being 6704mm long.
The maximum loadspace length at the floor level with a fixed bulkhead of the Ford E-Transit is 3083 mm for the L2 van. The Ford E-Transit L3 has 3533mm lengthways and the L4 has room for 4256mm. These lengths are slightly larger than the published lengths for the diesel van. The E-Transit has just over 3m total internal length as standard, over 3.5m in the middle sized van and more than 4.2m on the very largest E-Transits.
The load volume of a van is the all important amount of space that is available in the rear of the van. These numbers can be measured in a variety of ways, but generally speaking the manufacturers use the maximum theoretical volume of the loadspace if you were to completely fill it. In other words, the total load volume if it was filled with air.
The Ford E-Transit van has a load volume of between 9.5m3 and 15.1m3
And finally.... an often asked question is:
The biggest Ford E-Transit panel van is not bigger than the largest Mercedes-Benz eSprinter
