Continental has unveiled the VanContact A/S Eco, the first all-season van tyre to achieve the highest possible EU tyre label scores (A/A/A) – marking a major step forward in energy efficiency, safety and comfort for commercial vehicles.
Designed to meet the needs of both diesel and electric vans, the new tyre offers reduced rolling resistance, lower CO₂ emissions and improved performance across all weather conditions.
“With the VanContact A/S Eco, we have developed a tyre that exceeds the expectations of original equipment manufacturers and modern fleet operators,” said Nicolas Jackisch, product manager van tyres, EMEA.
“Thanks to its optimised rolling resistance, it contributes to reduced energy consumption and lower CO₂ emissions, while maintaining high standards in safety and comfort,” they added.
Continental says the tyre’s 21% reduction in rolling resistance, alongside a one-decibel drop in road noise and a 10% improvement in aquaplaning resistance, makes it the most efficient and refined van tyre the company has ever produced.
The VanContact A/S Eco has been developed to support the fast-changing light commercial vehicle market, which is seeing growing demand for electric vans in cities and among fleets seeking to reduce operating costs and emissions.
Marked with the EV Checkmark on the sidewall, the tyre is fully compatible with electric vehicles and designed to handle their unique torque and weight characteristics.

“Our new VanContact A/S Eco reflects our commitment to innovation, responsible product development and customer-oriented design,” Jackisch added. “It sets new standards for van tyre performance and supports a more efficient, environmentally conscious future for commercial mobility.”
The tyre’s performance gains are achieved through a combination of Smart Energy Casing technology, a lightweight construction, and a custom rubber compound. A new steel cord belt system increases rigidity and efficiency, while a refined tread pattern with reduced block spacing and optimised pitch sequence cuts external noise and vibration.
Its V-shaped tread, snow catchers and innovative sipes ensure reliable traction in all conditions, allowing operators to use the tyre year-round without the need for seasonal changes – reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
The VanContact A/S Eco will launch in Europe in early 2026, initially available in 205/75R16C and 235/65R16C sizes, with further dimensions to follow as manufacturer approvals are confirmed.
