eBay has announced the return of its Van Conversion of the Year Awards.
Now in its third year, the competition celebrates the best and most interesing van conversions in the UK.
eBay is looking for the best fit-outs across a range of categories with a chance to be named the best converted van and join last year's winner, a mobile DJ van and the inaugral winner the amBEERlance mobile bar as the country's best van conversion.
From mobile dog washing conversions and unique camper concepts to vans used by traditional trades, eBay says that all van converters are welcome. So if you've converted a Luton van or done wonders with a tipper truck, you can not only get your moment in the limelight but also win £10,000 in cash.
eBay has re-enlisted architect and presenter George Clarke to act as head judge, who will be joined by an expert panel which will include Abir Tewari, UK director of commercial operations for eBay parts and accessories as well as Mark Cropley, The Van Conversion Expert and founder of Whitebox Vans and Wildbox Adventure Vehicles.
Also joining the judging panel will be a mystery figure from the van-life community.
The judging panel will identify individual category winners from the shortlisted entries, before choosing the overall Van Conversion of the Year.
George Clarke, said: “Each year I look forward to seeing the range of conversions that eBay celebrates through its Van Conversion of the Year Awards. We’ve had some truly amazing bespoke hobby and business winners, but it’s also fantastic to see the smaller purpose-led tweaks owners make to their vehicles."
He added: "These niche fittings and additions truly embody the DIY spirit of eBay and what this competition represents.”
Entries have already opened but will close at 23.59 on Sunday 26 October. The winners will then be announced in November.
Previous category winners have included everything from a vintage bakery van created from a 60-year-old Bedford CA to a minimalist Nissan e-NV200 electric camper van.
Category winners will each receive £250 worth of eBay coupons, but the overall award winner will receive a £10,000 cash prize.
Abir Tewari, UK Director of Commercial Operations, Parts & Accessories at eBay, said: “At eBay, we love to champion those who use our huge range of parts and accessories to build and create the vehicles of their dreams. Over the previous years, we’ve seen some impressive creations that truly epitomise the DIY spirit of our customers and everything eBay stands for.”
Last year’s winner was Essex DJ, Jack Lydon created a mobile DJ studio camper which has allowed him to travel across Europe. The first winner was in 2023, when pub owner Paul White transformed a decommissioned ambulance into a mobile bar, known as the AmBEERlance.
