New internal door system aims to stop thieves even after a break-in
Van security specialist TVL Security has launched a new internal door system designed to protect tools and cargo even if thieves gain access to a van.
The new Internal Van Security Doors add a second line of defence inside the load area, targeting increasingly sophisticated vehicle crime methods.
The system consists of heavy-duty, double-skinned panels fitted behind the van’s existing side or rear doors. Each panel is hand-built to match the exact shape of the vehicle’s door, allowing normal access during day-to-day use.

Once closed and locked, the panels form a rigid internal barrier designed to remain intact even if the outer doors are forced open.
Rather than trying to make external doors impenetrable, TVL is effectively assuming a breach will happen and focusing on protecting what is inside.
Luke Powell, commercial director at TVL Group, said the approach reflects how van crime is evolving.
“Internal security has become a critical consideration as vehicle crime methods continue to advance. The Internal Van Security Doors are engineered to form an effective inner barrier, protecting valuable contents within the load area should thieves manage to bypass any external security systems,” Powell said.
Each door is secured using two of TVL’s hooklocks, adding an independent locking system separate from the vehicle’s factory locks.
The setup is designed to resist common attack methods including forced entry, drilling and ‘peel and steal’ attacks, where thieves bend back the outer door skin.
The system is currently available for a range of popular vans, including the Ford Transit, Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Vauxhall Combo and Citroën Dispatch, with additional models available on request, which TVL says is tailored to the specific vehicle, ensuring a close fit without compromising usability or loadspace access.
