First details of the all-electric Mercedes eCitan small van have been released.
The Mercedes-Benz eCitan will have a range of 177 miles (285km) and be capable of being recharged to 80% in just 40 minutes.
Powered by a 75kW (102hp) electric motor with 245Nm of torque, the eCitan will have a 44kWh lithium-ion battery located under the loadspace ahead of the rear axle.
The eCitan’s onboard charger will allow 11kW charging as standard with a faster 22kW option to speed up the charging time on a standard wallbox from four to two hours.
Inkeeping with the systems already in place in the Mercedes eSprinter and Mercedes eVito electric vans, the eCitan will have two different drive modes with Comfort and Eco options as well as three different levels of regenerative braking.

Useable dimensions for the eCitan will be the same as in the new Mercedes-Benz Citan diesel and petrol vans which has been enlarged compared to the previous model. The new Citan dimensions are wider and has up to 2.9m3 of rear load volume thanks to a folding bulkhead and collapsible passenger seat. Lengths of up to 3.05m can be transported in the eCitan.
Full details of the specification of the new eCitan will be announced closer to its on sale date in Spring 2022, including the payload of the electric van. Safety systems, however, will likely be broadly similar to the combustion engine models with hill start assist, attention assist and Crosswind Assist. Other options include Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Speed Limit Assist with traffic sign detection.
On the inside, the eCitan will use the MBUX infotainment system with Mercedes’ voice command. The eCitan’s 5in touchscreen also incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
