The old name brought back has had another re-invention as the Fiat E-Scudo brings electric power to the relaunched Scudo medium van name.
The Fiat E-Scudo follows in the path laid by the Fiat E-Ducato, the first electric Fiat van. But the E-Scudo is based on Stellantis siblings the Citroen E-Dispatch, Peugeot E-Expert and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric. The Toyota Proace Electric van is also based on the same platform.
Despite all the copying of homework, thatโs a pretty good base for an electric van. The E-Scudo has a range of up to 205 miles from the large of its two battery packs.
It is available with either a 50kWh battery with a 142 mile range. Or a 75kWh battery claiming 205 miles.
Power comes from a 100kW electric motor (136hp) producing 260Nm of torque and there are three driving modes and three levels of regenerative braking.
Charging can be done via a DC rapid charger, with the Fiat E-Scudo capable of taking a 100kW charge. Thatโs enough to make it charge to 80% in just 30 minutes on the small battery. The bigger 75kWh battery takes just 45 minutes. It can also support 11kW charging and thereโs the option of a 7.4kW wallbox home charge. That will will take up to 11 hours 20 minutes for the big battery and 7 hours 30 minutes for the 50kWh battery.
The electric Scudo can closely match the capabilities of the diesel ICE van. The Fiat E-Scudo has a payload of up to 1.2 tonnes and loadspace capacity of 5.3 to 6.6m3.

Thereโs a folding hatch under the passenger seat to extend the maximum load length of the cargo area. It increases the standard sized van to 3.67m in the standard version, and a maximum of 4.02m in the Maxi van.
The front seat also adjusts to become a table suitable for a laptop or tablet. As well as somewhere to eat your sandwiches.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are integrated into the 8-inch infotainment cluster.
Safety features are also a key part of the E-Scudo with a 13 active and passive safety devices. Thereโs traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, rearview cameras and advanced forward collision warning to name just a few.
