When it comes to moving stuff the Maxus eTerron 9 payload is not the greatest pick-up on the planet, but this all-wheel-drive electric pick-up does have a few abilities.
We'll detail the pick-up truck weights you most need to know for the Maxus eTerron 9 and look at a few interesting details for what is at the time of writing, the only 4x4 electric pick-up truck available in the UK.
The first and most important question you and others will want to know is what is the eTerron 9 payload? The Maxus eTerron 9 has a paylaod of 620kg.
That doesn't sound like a lot, but if you want to put it into context, the Ford Ranger Raptor only has a 680kg payload and these two trucks are pretty similar in their size and (some) performance.
The payload is relatively low because the eTerron 9 is a heavy truck, tipping the scales at 2880kg thanks to its 100kWh of batteries.
If you can add up, we've already given the game away, as the kerb weight of 2880kg plus the payload of 620kg will give you the GVW of the eTerron 9, which is... 3.5-tonnes.
That's the maximum weight for a pick-up truck these days and you'll find that most operate at that weight.
It's also an important number to know because the GVW and the gross train weight (GTW) will affect now much you can tow. If you want to read more about the Maxus eTerron 9 towing capacity there's a seperate guide available in the towing section.
At launch, the eTerron 9 is available in two trim levels, both of which have a payload of 620kg.
However, Maxus realise that some of its customers are going to want a bit more. That's why they will introduce a Utility trim level.
The eTerron 9 Utility has a 1050kg payload which is enough to enable it to be classed as a commercial vehicle in order to redeem the VAT. You can also fit a loadspace cover without bringing the payload down below the required 1000kg level.
The additional payload has been created by replacing some of the heavier equipment like fancy electric massage seats, but also switching from full air suspension to more conventional leaf springs.
That gives the eTerron 9 a much more user friendly (and tax friendly) 1050kg payload.
Models in the Maxus eTerron 9 have a payload ranging from 620kg for the high spec versions up to 1050kg for the Utility models.
