New KGM Musso EV pick-up truck is a no-show

April 30, 2025

Korea's first electric pick-up truck was a surprise no-show as it failed to make it to the CV Show in Birmingham.

The new Musso EV from KGM (previosly SsangYong) is due out this year, and was expected at the show, but due to a delay in production which shifted from March to May, the eagerly anticipated new electric Musso couldn't make its on time.

That gave the Isuzu D-Max EV launch the chance to steal the show and claim the bragging rights as the only fully electric pick-up truck in attendance after the Maxus eTerron 9 also failed to show as Maxus missed the CV Show for the first time in nearly a decade.

The Musso EV gets a 80.6kWh LFP battery and is powered by a 152kW electric motor.

KGM says the Musso EV pick-up will have a range of 249 miles, more than half as much again than the D-Max EV.

The pick-up truck gets 17-inch wheels, a premium audio system from Alpine, as well as safety systems like adaptive cruise control.

Embracing the missed opportunity, KGM decided to leave the space open on their stand, instead drawing attention to the coming product with a wall of screens and looped animation of the Musso EV and a QR code to register your interest.

Instead other models on display included diesel versions of the Musso pick-up, as well as the newly introduced KGM Rexton Commercial.

An adaptation of the Rexton SUV, the Rexton Commercial gets a fully N1 homologated loadspace, allowing buyers to register it as a commercial vehicle and claim the benefits of low Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and Benefit In Kind (BIK).

"With the changes to double-cab pick-up truck taxation, the Rexton Commercial has come at a perfect time for customers who want a premium SUV with commercial vehicle practicality," Clive Messenger, KGM sales director told Van Reviewer.

"We had several Rexton passenger cars available and it seemed like a great opportunity to transform them into commercial vehicles. We have a long history of 4x4 commercials and customers can now have an even more practical Rexton Commercial while only paying £345 road tax," he added.
