New Peugeot Partner Active launched for owner-drivers

Peugeot has expanded its compact van line-up with the launch of the new Partner Active, a lower-cost version of the Partner designed around the needs of sole traders and owner-drivers.

The launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Partner, which Peugeot describes as one of the key players in the European compact van sector.

Rather than simply introducing a lower trim level, Peugeot says the new model has been developed around extensive customer research. The company found that around 40% of compact van users are not interested in having three seats, while drivers spend roughly 90% of their working day alone behind the wheel.

That research has led to the creation of the Flexiseat system, which forms the centrepiece of the new Partner Active. The modular passenger seat can be folded vertically to free up an additional 0.5m³ of cargo space inside the cabin, creating extra room for packages, tools and equipment.

Peugeot has also developed an optional Modutable, a sliding table system that turns the passenger side into a mobile office or dining area. The table can be removed and stored in the load area when not required.

Additional features include the removable Moduconsole storage system, Dashbox dashboard storage compartments, a Drivedrawer hidden beneath the driver’s seat and the optional Moduwork package, which reintroduces a third seat while also providing extra storage and load-through functionality. A 220V power socket can also be specified.

The exterior has also been redesigned, with a simplified front end carrying Peugeot’s shield emblem, while the dashboard and door trims have been completely reworked to improve ergonomics and maximise usable space.

Despite its budget-conscious positioning, Partner Active retains the practicality expected from the wider range. Buyers can choose between standard and long-wheelbase versions measuring 4.40m and 4.75m respectively. Payloads reach up to 1,000kg and load volume extends to 4.4m³.

Peugeot is also maintaining a broad powertrain offering. Petrol, diesel and battery-electric versions are available from launch, with the electric model using a 42kWh battery and offering up to 270km of WLTP range. A mild-hybrid variant is scheduled to follow next year.

By focusing on the way professionals actually use their vehicles, Peugeot believes the Partner Active offers a more relevant solution for many tradespeople than a conventional three-seat van, while also providing a more accessible route into the Partner line-up.
