The Spanish National Police has bought 10 new INEOS Grenadier 4x4s, which will be deployed nationally with the force’s Police Intervention Units (UIP).
The new Grenadiers have been selected to support officers operating in demanding environments where conventional vehicles may struggle, including rural locations, mountainous regions, emergency situations and areas with difficult access.
According to Ineos the Grenadier was chosen largely in standard factory specification, requiring only limited modifications for police use.
The vehicles have been equipped with operational lighting, sirens and security-related equipment, while retaining the core off-road capability that has helped establish the model in specialist fleet applications.

The order follows a competitive procurement process and represents a further fleet success for INEOS Automotive in Spain as the manufacturer continues to target public sector, emergency service and utility operators across Europe.
Tony Lewis, global head of fleet at Ineos Automotive, said: “As Grenadier enters its third full year of production, we are now seeing fleet users really backing our product in mission critical situations.
“The Spanish National Police are the latest in a growing line of service Grenadiers operating across Europe, the UK and beyond.”

Developed as a purpose-built off-roader, the Grenadier combines a traditional ladder-frame chassis with permanent four-wheel drive and heavy-duty mechanical components. Ineos said these characteristics were key factors in the police force’s decision, enabling officers to maintain mobility in situations where road conditions, weather or terrain could otherwise hinder operations.

The vehicles will primarily support the UIP, a specialist branch of the Spanish National Police responsible for public order operations, major events and emergency deployments. The force expects the Grenadiers to improve access to remote locations and enhance operational flexibility during incidents requiring rapid response in challenging conditions.
Ineos said the Grenadier’s combination of off-road performance, durability and established local support infrastructure makes it well suited to defence, emergency service and government fleet applications across Europe.
More than 36,000 vehicles have been delivered globally, so far, and Ineos says that fleet enquiries have increased significantly over the past six months.
Recent fleet customers include the Kenyan Red Cross, rental giant Hertz in North America and a number of fire and rescue services across Germany, Spain and France. Ineos has also added a new military spec Grenadier, as part of a consortium looking to win business from the British Army.
