Vauxhall Movano van weight

The Vauxhall Movano is one of Britain's best-selling large vans, and in this guide you'll find out not only all there is to know about the Vauxhall Movano van weights but also the really important need to know facts like it's usable payload.

Although Vauxhall is a uniquely British name, the Movano is not just available on these shores. So, the information in this guide also apply to the Opel Movano, the Vauxhall's German cousin, which is sold throughout Europe.

That means the Opel Movano van weight and payload are exactly the same (well maybe a kilo or two different, if you get some fancy extras) but for all intents and purposes, these are the same vans.

We'll look at the kerb weight of the vans, the maximum payload and the overall gross vehicle weight. There's also a section on the individual axle weights, which is important in the grand scheme of things if you're worried about overloading your van.

This guide will cover all you need to know about the weights of the Movano van, but if you need to know about the Vauxhall Movano dimensions there's a separate article that will help you.

It's also worth knowing that these are the weights for the current model of the Movano. Now the Movano has undergone a pretty significant change when Vauxhall and Opel were combined into the Stellantis family of vans.

Previously the Movano shared a platform with the Renault Master, but once it became part of Stellantis and the supply agreements expired, the Movano was repurposed and began sharing its chassis with the Peugeot Boxer and Citroen Relay. This guide is for the latter version of the Movano van, and the weights and payloads here are pretty much applicable to the Boxer van weights, and that of the Relay and Fiat Ducato.

Check the payloads homepage for details on any of the other models or for other large vans.

Overview Vauxhall Movano van weight and payloads

The Vauxhall Movano (and the Opel Movano) are available in a wide range of sizes but their gross vehicle weight doesn't change.

That's quite unusual, in that vans like the Ford Transit and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter come in a variety of gross vehicles weights from around 3 tonnes up to 3.5 tonnes.

The exception is for the electric version of the van, the Vauxhall Movano Electric, which is available as a 4.25-tonne van.

When it comes to the overall payload of the Vauxhall Movano, it is capable of carrying anywhere from 1235kg up to 1500kg, depending on the model. We'll go into much more detail on that now.

What is the Vauxhall Movano payload?

Payload is arguably the most important number when it comes to the weights of a van. How much you can carry will determine what jobs you can do with it, and potentially how much money it can earn you.

Fortunately, the Vauxhall Movano has the ability to carry up to 1500kg of payload, which is right at the top end of the scale for a 3.5-tonne van.

Vauxhall Movano payload weights by model

The Movano comes in three different body lengths, which have an impact on the overall payload of the van. The bigger the van, the smaller the payload. So, you really need to decide if you're carrying heavy items or bulk items (or perhaps something in between), when it comes to making your buying decision.

The shorter wheelbase vans have the greatest payload, so that's the L2 models, which are available as only a standard height H1 roof height. With an L2H1 Movano you will get a payload of 1500kg.

Adding a higher roof, making it a L2H2 Movano, only comes with a small weight penalty and has a payload of 1475kg.

Going up in length to an L3 reduces the weight further, with payloads starting from 1425kg, while the L4 makes a significant dent in the payload with a capacity of just 1265kg.

All of these models get different variations. For example, specifying an automatic gearbox will reduce your overall carrying capacity weight by 60kg.

What is the Vauxhall Movano weight

The gross vehicle weight of the Vauxhall Movano is 3,500kg, what's the overall Vauxhall Movano weight, and the amount it can legally be on the roads when it has a full payload and you and all the fuel and other liquids on board.

So the Movano maximum weight is 3.5 tonnes, for a diesel van, but there's also the overall kerbweight which you might like to know.

What is the Vauxhall Movano kerb weight

The Movano has an overall weight ranging from 2000kg up to 2265kg.

The overall mass or kerbweight varies depending on the size of the van, whether or not it has an automatic or manual gearbox and if it's a long wheelbase, extra long wheelbase or has a high roof.

There are also small variation in the trim of the van too, so be mindful if you're adding something as an extra that you know is going to significantly increase the weight of the van.

Is there a Vauxhall Movano weight limit?

The weight limit for the Vauxhall Movano is really the payload of the van - unless of course you are talking about road weight limits, in which case the Movano is a 3.5-tonne van (so don't go over any fragile bridges).

The weight limit is 1500kg for the best performing van, that's the maximum payload of the Movano with the greatest payload.

If you want to check individual specifications, there's a table at the bottom of this article that will help, however, it is always advisable to check the plated weights of an individual van - these can usually be found either under the bonnet, or in the door frame of the vehicle (usually the passenger side).

What's the best Movano van for carrying heavy things?
