You're looking for some details on the Ford Transit Courier dimensions, and you've hit upon just the right place to find it.
Maybe you're thinking of buying one - great choice, read the Ford Transit Courier review to find out why - or maybe you've already got one and you need to clarify a few details and specs about this compact little van.
The Ford Transit Courier is the smallest van in the Ford van line-up, so you'll understand that the dimensions are a bit on the tiny side. But it can do a great deal with its small body. It's also punches up quite well too, standing on the toes of its larger sibling the Ford Transit Connect.
In this guide we'll cover everything there is to know about the Transit Courier size and dimensions with its length, width and height, as well as load space details and interior dimensions.
If you're looking to find out the Ford Transit Courier payload or other weights then check out the van weight guide.
If you want to find out the Ford Transit Courier towing capacity there's also an article for that too.
The Ford Transit Courier comes in just one size, an L1H1 van with a wheelbase of 2692mm.
It's the only option for a Courier cargo van, which has an overall length of 4.4m.
The Courier is 2m wide and 1.8m high, making it sit just below the Ford Transit Connect dimensions which is actually now based on the Volkswagen Caddy.
The Courier is available with petrol, diesel and electric drivetrain options and there's no difference in the overall dimensions of these different versions.
Being a compact city van, the Courier has an excellent turning circle of 10.7m thanks to its short overhangs and stubby proportions.
Ford Transit Courier | Dimensions |
---|---|
Width (With Mirrors) | 2,076 mm |
Width (Without Mirrors) | 1,800 mm |
Height | 1,827 mm |
Length (Without Tow Bar) | 4,337 mm |
Turning Circle | 10.70 m |
As there is only one body length the overall size of the Courier is very straight forward.
The offical overall length of the Ford Transit Courier is 4337mm. That's Ford's measurement for the overall length without a tow bar.
If you do want to add a tow bar, you'll probably increase the overall length by around 230mm, once the tow bar is in place.
Just like the length, there is of course only one width to the Courier.
The official width of the Ford Transit Courier is 1,800mm.
The Ford Transit Courier has an overall height of 1827mm, which is the standard height quoted by Ford in their official brochure.
However, there's also the option of having larger wheels.
The 1827mm height is actuall for a van on 15-inch wheels, whereas having the optional 17-inch wheels will mean the height increases to 1850mm.
The Ford Transit Courier load dimensions are surprisingly big for a compact van.
The overall loadspace length is 1.8m, with a width of 1.5m and internal height of 1.26m. That makes for a pretty useful loadspace.
While the bulkhead does eat into the overall length a fraction, it's not as severe an intrusion as other small vans. That means the cargo area is actually quite square, maximising the amount of total useful space.
There's a single side door as standard, but you can specify a second side door on the option list. The side door entry appeture is 528mm, with a height of 1069mm.
The rear doors open up to 180 degrees for improved access, and they are mismatched in size. By that we mean that the left-hand door is slightly larger than the right hand door. This helps with access, as the left door is the one that you open first. That should mean that you don't have to keep opening both doors to get access, which you could ordinarily have to do were they both the same size.
The total rear door appeture is 1235mm, with a height of 1120mm.
Ford Transit Courier | Dimensions |
---|---|
Loadspace Length | 1,802 mm |
Loadspace Height | 1,262 mm |
Loadspace Width | 1,535 mm |
Side Door Width | 528 mm |
Side Door Height | 1,069 mm |
Rear Door Width | 1,235 mm |
Rear Door Height | 1,120 mm |
The overall maximum load length for the Ford Transit Courier is 1802mm, however, there's a sneaky bulkhead door that increases the capacity to 2667mm.
This is a hatch in the bulkhead that enables long items like pipes for narrow bits of wood to be loaded further into the van. The additional 80cm means the items run under the passenger seat, giving useful additional storage.
Although the load-through bulkhead increases capacity from 1802mm to 2667mm it's still not the biggest usable length you'll find in a compact van. The competition can, and does do better. If you maximum space then you'll have to look at something like the Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner because they use the space all the way into the footwell.
Width is a pretty easy thing in the Transit Courier, it's got 1220mm between the wheelarches and there's 1535mm at its widest point.
That's enough for two Euro pallets can be transported side by side.
Because of the wide opening rear doors, you could even use a forklift to load your pallets.
The internal height for the Transit Courier is 1262mm which is the measurement from the floor to the ceiling. It's the same all the way along the van, and there's no real issues or intrusions to worry about.
Load volume can be calculated in all manner of ways, but the overall load volume is 2.91 cubic metres for the Transit Courier.
If you want to include the space created by the load-through hatch then the capacity increases to 3 cubic metres.
Ford Transit Courier | Volume |
---|---|
Loadspace Capacity | 2.91 m3 |
So there you have it, the complete breakdown of the Ford Transit Courier van dimensions.
It may be amongst the smallest vans on the market, but with some clever design and optimal packaging we think it's got a lot to offer.
The Transit Courier is a compact van that sits at the bottom end of the small van segment. It measures 4.3m in length, and is 1.8m high and 1.8m wide.
