You won't find many 4x4 vans that can carry a decent payload, in fact the Ineos Grenadier Commercial is one of the few converted vehicles in the van world that manages volume and weights in equal measure.
In this guide to the Ineos Grenadier Commercial van weights and payload, we'll break down what the Grenadier Commercial can carry as well as its kerb weight, gross vehicle weight and any other points we think might be of use.
The most important question is always about payload, so we'll get that over and done with straight away.
The payload for the Ineos Grenadier Commercial is between 796kg and 871kg depending on the model.
The like the regular Grenadier, Ineos makes the Commercial van version is available with two different engines, petrol or diesel. That's the only significant difference in the range, but of course there will be a few variations based on any additional equipment you add.
Now we'll look at the payload for individual engines.
Unfortunately, diesel engines are heavy. They also tend to get meatier gearboxes too. So, if you're after the best possible payload for your Grenadier Commercial then it's not on the V6 diesel model. Although it is a damn good engine if you want to tow anything - find out more about the Ineos Grenadier towing capacity - or run at full weight.
The V6 diesel model of the Grenadier Commercial has a payload of 796kg. That's for the basic Commercial version without any other accessories - of which there are many.
If you choose the petrol V6 engine - which like the diesel engine is also made by BMW - then you'll be able to carry a little bit more payload.
The maximum payload allowance for the Grenadier Commercial with a petrol engine is 871kg.
A really practical feature of the Grenadier Commercial is that the roof also has a payload rating.
That's not for a roof rack, or anything mundane like that, we're talking about the actual roof.
The roof of the Ineos Grenadier is rated to carry 150kg, without a protection or roof bars. That means it is strong enough for you to walk along - should you wish.
Other feature is the rear mounted ladder (how else would you get to the roof without one?).
The ladder on the back of the Grenadier also has a specific weight rating, which according to Ineos can support up to 150kg.
Then there's the utility belt on the front door which can support up to 45kg of weight, while the rear side door has a 35kg payload.
Utility hooks on the front and rear side doors can carry 5kg and 10kg each as well.
If you jump into the options list, the Rhino Rack Roof Rack, has a static load weight of 420kg and a dynamic load limit of 150kg - both of which including the roof rack weight itself.
It's not a small vehicle, as you can imagine, with the petrol model weighing in at 2,629kg and the diesel version at a 2,704kg. That's for a vehicle with liquids and driver, which is why when you add the payloads on top of those numbers you get the gross vehicle weight.
All that conveniently adds up to the gross vehicle weight of the Grenadier Commercial which the maximum 3.5-tonnes that you'd expect for a vehicle of this size.
