Need to know the Peugeot Expert payload rating? Well you've hit upon the right place as this guide will take you through everything you need to know about the Peugeot Expert's weight, payload, capacity and how many tonnes it can carry.
We'll tell you the simple straight answer to the question but there's also a few more tricky bits of information to get your head around. The Peugeot Expert comes in a range of sizes, so simply telling you how much weight it can carry can get a bit complicated.
There's also a whole world of other vans out there so do look at the van payloads homepage to see if there are other details you need.
While you're browsing you can also find other guides on on the Peugeot Expert and vans like it in the van dimensions and towing sections.
Don't forget there's also a comprehensive Peugeot Expert review to look at as well.
Finally, if you've come looking for details on the electric version then don't be sad that you're in the wrong place, because there are dedicated pages for the electric Peugeot Export including a Peugeot E-Expert review, Peugeot E-Expert dimensions, Peugeot E-Expert payload and Peugeot E-Expert towing capacity.
So, on to the main event.
Officially the Peugeot Expert has a payload from 1,121kg to 1,384kg which excludes the weight of the driver but with fluids and 90% fuel capacity.
That should have answered your question, or at least narrowed it down. If you need to get a little deeper into the subject, though, there are more in-depth details on the payload for individual models of Peugeot Expert van.
The Peugeot Expert is plated at two different weights, 2.8-tonnes and 3.1-tonnes which in a nutshell means it comes in small or large - and that's not just in relation to its physical size.
This is the total weight the van, the amount it is allowed to weight when it is fully laden with people and cargo.
The exact Peugeot Expert gross vehicle weights (GVW) are 2,830kg and 3,070kg and 3,100kg for the panel vans versions. You'll also see in the table below the reference values for the fully electric version as well.
So let's look at what the individual amounts of the Peugeot Expert payload are:
- Vans with a 2.8-tonne GVW have a payload capacity of 1,121kg to 1,182kg
- Vans with a 3.1-tonne GVW have a payload capacity of between 1,315kg and 1,384kg
But still we can go deeper and look at the other versions of the Peugeot Expert and find out what the payloads are for individual models.
Below is a summary of all the Peugeot Expert models detailing the maximum payload which is once again the value without a driver but with 90% fuel and other liquids.
The kerbweight is the total weight of the vehicle, while the maximum payload is what you can carry.
The breakdown includes the two different trim levels, Professional and Asphalt which, due to their slightly different specification, alters the payload.
It's also worth noting that the two different power outputs result in a change in payload too. That's because the Peugeot Expert comes with either a 1.5-litre engine or a 2-litre engine. The slightly larger engine will add more weight. There's also an option for an automatic gearbox, which again adds weight to the Peugeot Expert and reduces payload.
An increase in body size, going from Standard to Long (L1 to L2) changes the total payload by between 50kg and 70kg.
Opting for Professional trim means gives the Peugeot Expert between 9kg and 20kg more payload than their Asphalt sibling.
An automatic gearbox will reduce payload by betwen 14kg to 35kg depending on the size of the Peugeot Expert you put it in.
To make things a bit more simple here's a table on the Peugeot Expert payload with each individual for you to stufy yourself.

It's not just about the overall weight of the van and the total payload though, as anyone who wants to fully maximise the weight in their van will need to be aware of the individual axle weights.
Axle weights are split into the max weights for the front and rear axles, and is the individual amount of load that can be on any one axle.
Individual axle weights are a lot higher than the overall Peugeot Expert payload figure which can be a little confusing but this is a good thing.
Here's why:
If you've got 1000kg on a pallet in the rear cargo space you've added 1000kg of weight to the van.
That's a payload of 1000kg which is close to maximum but still legal. However, the weight of that 1000kg is also distributed across the front and rear axles depending on where it is placed.
If the load has been placed at the rear of the van, the majority of the weight is on the rear axle. The further the weight moves back towards the rear doors the more of the weight is being carried just by the rear axle only.
Push the same pallet towards the bulkhead and the balance shifts to the front axle.
So, why is that important for the axle weights?
Well, this position of heavy loads is how overloading can happen.
If the weight is right against the rear doors, over the rear axle, the axle is not only supporting the 1000kg pallet it is also carrying the mass of evrything else too. That meabs the weight of the body, but also a percentage of the engine and even you and your passengers.
It's therfore possible that you could overload not only the van but also an individual axle.
For more details on why this is important, including the penalties and fines for being overloaded read our What is overloading in a van article.
The front axle weight for the Peugeot Expert is 1500kg for all panel van models.
The rear axle weight for the Peugeot Expert is 1800kg for all models.
The Expert is top of the class for payload in the medium van sector and even has a slightly better maximum payload than the big daddy of the sector. The Ford Transit Custom payload ranges from 1100kg to 1350kg which is ever so slightly less than the Expert's 1121kg to 1384kg range.
You'll also find that the other Stellantis vans all have the same payload as well, so the Citroen Dispatch payload, the Fiat Scudo payload and the Vauxhall Vivaro payload are all exactly the same.
Although not a Stellantis van, it is made by them, the Toyota Proace payload is also exactly the same.
